Grant Proposal Planning & Writing

A typical grant can take anywhere between 8 and 15 hours to compose. For many, grant writing is a daunting task, resulting in frustration. Some applications have confusing questions, strict word count limits, or little guidance on what information they seek.  I will take the perplexity out of grant writing by working with your organization to plan, craft, and submit a persuasive proposal.

Grant Funding Research

A customized grant funding search on foundations and corporate giving sources. You will receive a detailed list of 10-15 potential funders, a customized grant calendar, and suggestions on how much to request based on a grantmakers giving history.

Letter of Inquiry/Intent (LOI)

An LOI is a 1-3 page overview of your organization and programs.  Essentially, it is a "mini-grant." Most funders require an LOI before submitting a full grant proposal. Grantmakers want to ensure your organization is the right fit for their funding priorities.

Grant Plan Development

A Grant Plan is the basis of all grant writing. I'll compile a comprehensive summary of your organization, community needs, programs, and everything else Grantmakers typically request.  This gives you the framework for future proposals so you can reduce the time it takes to write your own grants.  The Grant Plan is a good option if you have a staff member with the time and writing skills to write your proposals.

Proposal Review and/or Editing

A detailed analysis of your proposal to ensure you've followed all the instructions of the Grantmakers (they can be picky), and that your message is clear and compelling. A second set of eyes is essential to your grant's success.

Fees

Fees are based on each individual project. Every grant is different, and every client is different. Therefore, fees are determined on an individual basis. I typically work on a per-project basis or monthly retainer for long-term clients.

Are you grant ready?

Not every organization or project is prepared for grant funding, so before you dive in, take a hard look at what makes you fundable. To be competitive, you'll first need compelling answers to these questions:

  • Do you provide a solution to a recognized problem or need?

  • What makes you unique in the non-profit/NGO marketplace?

  • Can you demonstrate your impact in ways that are clear and measurable?

  • Do you work with collaborative partners?

  • Do you have current financial statements (cash flow, profit, and loss, etc.)

  • Are you a legally established organization with an official designation from your state or country?

I can analyze your grant readiness and offer practical solutions to become ready to apply for competitive grants.
